RIVOS (Latin for “river”) is our label for aluminium with a reduced carbon footprint. The classification is based on defined criteria for lower-emission production and is assigned on a product-specific basis. By combining efficient production methods, recycled content and the use of renewable energy sources, RIVOS products are designed to minimize carbon footprints while maintaining the highest standards of quality and durability. Third-party certified for total transparency.

The meaning behind the synergy
“Reframing Resources” and “Thinking in Life Cycles” describe the approach behind RIVOS: considering materials, production processes, and product-specific carbon footprint data within the context of their entire lifecycle. RIVOS combines, among other things, external scrap, lower-carbon primary metal, and regional opportunities for the use of renewable energy. The aim is to reduce the product-specific carbon footprint according to defined criteria and to communicate it transparently. The name RIVOS, derived from the Latin word for “river,” reflects this approach and the importance of regional energy sources, such as hydropower in Norway. RIVOS therefore represents a product-specific classification of aluminium solutions with regard to material input, energy sources, and carbon footprint.
