Peter Basten takes over Speira’s Specialties business

The European Aluminium rolling and recycling company has appointed a new member of its executive management: Peter Basten just took over responsibility for Speira’s business unit Specialties and the New Business Development. Peter has vast experience in the Aluminium industry, first and foremost from 20 years at Constellium where he headed the global Packaging and Automotive Rolled Products (P&ARP) business and, before that, acted as Executive Vice-President for Strategy, Business Development, Research & Technology.

“Peter’s strong track record in leading strategic growth and innovation across global business lines as well as his extensive experience in the industry, especially in general management, sales & marketing, operational excellence, business planning, and R&D integration make him the ideal addition to our Executive Management Team. Speira will also massively benefit from his strong international foundation,” says CEO Einar Glomnes.

Peter has prior experience as Director Sales & Marketing for Packaging Applications and Director Strategy & Business Planning at Rio Tinto’s Alcan business (now Constellium) and worked as Strategy Consultant for Monitor Company. He holds a Master of Science in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology and a Master of Science in Economics & Corporate Management from ENSPM (École Nationale Supérieure du Pétrole et des Moteurs (IFP School)) in Rueil-Malmaison. Peter is 50 year old, a dual Swiss-Dutch citizen, married and father of two children.
